Key work outputs and accountabilities

  • Administer and process monthly payrolls accurately and on time using SAGE VIP Payroll.
  • Maintain and update all payroll records, employee details, and salary structures.
  • Validate and reconcile timesheets, leave applications, shift allowances, and overtime submissions.
  • Prepare and process new hires, terminations, salary adjustments, and benefit changes.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory deductions and submissions (PAYE, UIF, SDL, and Pension/Provident Funds).
  • Generate monthly payroll reports for management and finance departments.
  • Manage employee queries related to salaries, deductions, and benefits in a professional manner.
  • Perform payroll reconciliations and assist with financial year-end audits.
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to align payroll activities with organizational
    policies and budgets.
  • Keep up to date with changes in labour legislation, SARS regulations, and payroll best practices.
  • Uphold strict confidentiality of all employee information and payroll data.

Qualifications

  • Matric (Grade 12) – essential.
  • A relevant Payroll, Human Resources, or Finance Diploma/Certificate –preferred.
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience in payroll administration within a private hospital or healthcare environment – essential.
  • Proven experience and proficiency in SAGE VIP Payroll.
  • Sound understanding of South African labour laws and payroll compliance standards (BCEA, UIF, PAYE, SDL, etc.).
  • Excellent numerical aptitude, attention to detail, and accuracy.
  • Strong computer literacy, including MS Excel (intermediate to advanced level).
  • Effective communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure.
  • High degree of integrity, discretion, and confidentiality.
